Welcome to Radio Reddit!

Radio Reddit is an eclectic algorithmic streaming radio station whose playlists are controlled by our listeners' voting habits.  All of the music on Radio Reddit is created by musicians who are members of Reddit.com.

All songs uploaded to Radio Reddit by artists and bands are given a fair shot at airplay by the algorithm.  Songs with above average scores are guaranteed airplay, and songs with highly negative scores are excluded from airplay.  Your votes influence the overall quality of the stream.

For your votes to count you need to be logged into Reddit.com as the voting is tracked there on our subreddit /r/radioreddit.  If a vote button does not display a reddit score number, or it displays a dot or "submit",  that means it has not been submitted for voting on our subreddit.  Just click "reddit" or "submit" on the voting button, to be wisked away to a submission form on Reddit.com to start earning karma off the awesome track you just heard.

Yo Dawg, I heard you like stats, so I puts some stats on your Radio Reddit.

Get your stats here:
Listener Statistics and Song Statistics (all songs - this is different from the "My song stats")

We're always looking for ways to improve the site, so if there is something you'd like to see on the stats pages, leave a comment or find us on IRC.

Live at Radio Reddit: Hello Citizen Saturday August, 21. 8pm USA EST

Hello Citizen / Ben Wolfman

Hello Citizen is Ben Wolman (1981 - ?)

At times plain and direct, at times unrepentantly sarcastic, at times infuriatingly cryptic, Hello Citizen melds influences, interests, and experiences into a unique and alluring sound-world. The music is a synthesis of the many elements that make up the life we all share.

All Hello Citizen tracks thus far have been recorded, mixed, and produced by Ben. He is working on a four-song EP. It will be out soon.

At open mics Ben typically does an acoustic set, playing songs off of the self-titled "Hello Citizen", the newly-finished "Play This At My Funeral", and other unreleased material.

Thank you Reddit!

We wanted to thank Reddit for generously posting about our community project on their blog. (Read the blog post). So far it has brought us tons of traffic which has allowed us to streamline and tweak things to make the site and stream more efficient.  We now have the stream being load balanced between two additional servers, (thank you RadixCloud and Exoware for donating these.

Our main server that does the majority of the workload has been tweaked a bit to handle things in a more smooth fashion, so you should be seeing better performance.  We tweaked apache  and some of our scripts to handle larger traffic spikes more efficiently.

Please keep in mind that this is a community project.  We are all just Reddit users like you, and everything is donation based.  No one profits, all donations go directly into server and operation costs.  That being said we really need help.  Our costs are pretty low right now at about 52 dollars a month and we are tapping out the main server that we have (it does the site, the main streams, stream ripping for podcasting, etc.)   If you have a dollar or two to help keep this operational  and growing, you can make a donation to donate@radioreddit.com, or by clicking the "Donate" button over to the left .  Soapier has also made three awesome Radio Reddit soaps and is donating a portion of all proceeds to us.  The soaps are available at Soapier.com.

Again thanks for the support everyone, and if you would like to get involved in any way, please let us know!

Problem with the voting buttons

Edit: FIXED!
We are aware that there seems to be a regression bug with the Reddit embedded buttons.  When you click on "reddit" on the button for a song that hasn't been submitted to our subreddit, it should take you to a submission form on our subreddit /r/radioreddit, but it stopped doing this about 4 days ago.  We notified the admins of Reddit today, as soon as the problem was brought to light, and hopefully they will have it fixed soon.  I hear you can bribe them to fix things faster by upgrading to Reddit Gold ...

In the meantime, just change the subreddit from reddit.com to radioreddit when submitting songs for initial votes from radioreddit.com and the voting will work.  The subreddit is hard-coded into the buttons, if you submit it to reddit.com your submission will have no effect.  If you submit it to radioreddit you will earn karma off a well liked track.

Again, if you notice bugs, weirdness, feel free to get a hold of us on IRC, /r/radioreddit or by submitting a bug report to our bug tracker at http://radioreddit.com/tracker/
